Murder Most Foul

Cogito Ergo Non Serviam

Why Hegseth Killed Shipwrecked Sailors

The Pentagon is led by an alcoholic with a raging case of inferiority. Pete "Kegsbreath" Hegseth just does not know what he is doing, or perhaps he does, and he is an evil prick. In his latest blunder or stroke of genius, he made sure that there were no survivors of an attack on a South America fishing boat he claimed was laden with drugs heading to America. There were two men who survived the first strike, so 40 minutes later a second attack killed them. Those who saw the video of the second strike say it was almost vomit-inducing. They had to die, however, to protec the Kegsbreath Doctrine, that these alleged drug smugglers never get a US trial because the US would lose the case.

Tuesday, the New York Times reported:

The Pentagon was in a bind. The military had plucked two survivors from the Caribbean Sea in mid-October after striking a boat that U.S. officials said was carrying drugs, and it needed to figure out what to do with them.

On a call with counterparts at the State Department, Pentagon lawyers floated an idea. They asked whether the two survivors could be put into a notorious prison in El Salvador to which the Trump administration had sent hundreds of Venezuelan deportees, three officials said.

The State Department lawyers were stunned, one official said, and rejected the idea. The survivors ended up being repatriated to their home countries of Colombia and Ecuador.

Because those two men are still alive, the other two men were murdered. The Kegsbreath Doctrine is that no one ever gets a trial where evidence will have to be produced and where government officials are bound by the laws of perjury. And because the two men repatriated can talk to the press, there is still a chance of the US government being found out.

Now, this journal is not pro-drug smuggling. Indeed, drugs should only be taken under medical supervision, and that includes alcohol and caffeine. They should be legal, because prohibition only strengthens organized crime, but people should respect them more.

However, the proper way to deal with the drug smuggling is to bust the small fry and give them a chance to turn on their superiors in the organization. In mafia terms, one arrests the soldiers to get to the capos to turn them against the godfather. It happens all the time in fighting drug cartels.

What the Trump administration has decided to do is use the US Navy to do the job of the US Coast Guard and to use Navy not Coast Guard techniques. Interdiction by the Coast Guard is what works, along with help from the border guards on land. As a result, the low level guys who could easily be turned are dead. The strikes do nothing to roll up the organization. It is not effective.

But the Secretary of Defense (not War as he would like it to be) wants to have video that proves his ultra-macho approach to things proves not only effective but that he is a real man. Such boys never ever grew up, and he is a danger to himself and others. There is something of the simpleton in the attitude of "kill them all and let God sort them out." Simpletons do well in the second Trump administration. It does not do to outshine the boss.

So as this year ends and another begins, one can expect more such attacks by the USN on boats (not ships) that lack the range to reach America. It is a Potemkin fight against drugs staged for the same kind of people who would have lined up early for the gladiator games in Rome. Nintendo games played for blood is what they offer. And the overdoses will not stop.

The decline under the Turmp administration continues to accelerate.
