A Look Ahead

Cogito Ergo Non Serviam

Predictions 2026

Every year, this journal makes 11 entirely verifiable predictions. No hidden meaning inside a quatrain that can be misinterpreted, no grey areas. Solid data will allow the reader to determine whether the prediction is accurate or not, a binary situation. Last year, 8 of the 11 predictions came true. This year, one would like perfection, but as observed this time last year, the world is becoming less and less predictable as the chaos of this century expands. Nevertheless, here are the predictions for 2026:

  • The Democratic Party will win control of the House of Representatives in the November 2026 election

  • The Republican Party will retain control of the US Senate in the November 2026 election

  • The US Congress will pass a spending law that keeps the US government open before the January 30 funding deadline expires

  • There will be no Ukrainian-Russian peace treaty signed in 2026

  • US unemployment rate will exceed 4.0% in the December jobs report.

  • Fed will cut rates fewer than 3 times

  • Benjamin Netanyahu will win re-election as Israeli Prime Minister

  • Viktor Orban will win a tainted election in Hungary to continue as PM of Hungary

  • SpaceX will have its initial public offering and generate $1 trillion or more in capital

  • At least two of these four will resign or be fired before 2027 begins: AG Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, Secretary of Defense Pete “Kegsbreath” Hegseth and Border Tsar Tom Homan

  • The US will bail out a crytocurrency exchange or stable coin

This journal believes 2026 will be more of the same, a downward slope heading to nothing good. At the same time, if something cannot go on forever, it will not. The current right-wing populist insanity will eventually end. The only question is how many people will have to die or have their lives ruined before it does.

As always, one is grateful for those still willing to read.
